Point of Sale (POS) terminals have become popular at airline check-in counters to speed up the check-in process. One of our customers decided to upgrade their POS systems for use at check-in counters. They were looking for a reliable, small size serial communication solution that would allow them to connect more peripheral devices in a small space. The peripheral devices include mileage card readers, passport readers, boarding pass voucher printers, receipt printers, scales and display monitors, with each device connected to a separate serial port.

Moxa's CP-168EL-A is an 8-port RS-232 low profile PCI Express board. It is ideal for adding RS-232 serial ports to a small form factor PC. The CP-168EL-A has a 128-byte FIFO, on-chip H/W and S/W flow control, and drivers are available for most operating systems.
